sWerve Scholarship

sWerve is also accepting applications for its 2010 scholarship. The $1,5000 scholarship is given each year to help a woman in the community who exemplifies sWerve’s values pursue her education. These values include: promoting positive images and experiences of queer, lesbian, bisexual and transgender women in Utah; building community among women; supporting and creating women-safe spaces; and engaging in community service, educational outreach and civic action.

Earth Fair

The Salt Lake Center for Spiritual Living will honor Earth Day with an Earth Fair which will honor the creation of sustainable lifestyles. The day will include discussion groups and speakers who will address methods for “greening” such things as homes, cars and daily lifestyles. The fair will also have exhibitors, music and food. Cowboy Kick-Off

The Village, the Utah AIDS Foundation’s HIV-prevention program for gay and bisexual men, will hold its second annual Cowboy Kick-off this May to raise money for the Village Summit, a health seminar for gay and bisexual men. This year’s theme will be Castro-style, to commemorate slain gay leader Harvey Milk. A cash bar will be available and prizes will be given for the best cowboy outfit.
When: May 9, 6:00 – 11:00 p.m.
