To help ease the burden on the families of those killed in the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub last weekend, Orlando will set aside plots at Greenwood Cemetery for each victim, an Heather Fagan, deputy chief of staff for mayor Buddy Dyer, confirmed.
The plots will be offered to the 49 victims’ families, free of charge. The city will also cover some burial costs, Fagan said. Officials have selected a section of the cemetery along Anderson Street, which is visible even when the cemetery is closed. The downtown Orlando skyline is also visible from that area, she said.
The city doesn’t yet know how many families will take up the offer.
