Alternative Garden Club summer activities

The Alternative Garden Club has announced several summer events:

Saturday, July 30: Garden Potluck. This year, instead of going to several club members’ gardens on the same evening, the club will showcase one member’s garden with a more leisurely potluck dinner. Contact for information.

Wednesday, Aug. 3:  New Roots Farm tour (in lieu of the monthly meeting at the garden center). This farm assists refugees in building a better life by raising livestock and vegetables.

Saturday, Aug. 6:  The AGC will participate in the annual Pond Tour put on by the Utah Water Garden Club. Last year’s tour included some truly spectacular gardens, check this website for this year’s: .

The Alternative Garden Club is a friendly society for LGBT persons and their straight allies who are interested in learning more about gardening and the natural environment. It generally meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Garden Center in Sugar House Park. Annual membership is $20, but newcomers are always free to check out the club and meet the group. For more information, contact or go to their Facebook page.
