A letter from the publisher: Securing the future of ‘QSaltLake Magazine’ through community support

Dear Readers,

For more than two decades, QSaltLake Magazine has existed to inform and entertain the LGBTQ+ community and tell our community’s stories honestly, proudly, and without compromise. From moments of celebration to times of uncertainty, we’ve been here documenting LGBTQ+ life in Utah because those stories matter.

Today, I’m writing to share an important step toward ensuring that work continues for years to come.

We’ve partnered with News Revenue Hub, a nonprofit that helps independent publications like ours build sustainable, reader-supported funding. This collaboration gives us new tools and guidance to strengthen our future, not by changing who we are, but by deepening our connection with you, the community we serve.

Like many local publications, we’ve seen the landscape shift. Advertising alone can no longer sustain the kind of thoughtful, community-driven journalism that QSaltLake is known for. But rather than scale back, we’re choosing to move forward by inviting you to be part of what comes next.

If QSaltLake has ever informed you, connected you, or made you feel seen, I ask you to consider supporting us directly. Your contribution helps us continue covering the stories that too often go untold, from local arts and culture to the ongoing fight for equality, to the everyday lives that make this community so vibrant.

You can make one-time or monthly contributions here:

This isn’t just about sustaining a publication. It’s about preserving a voice. It’s about ensuring LGBTQ Utahns continue to have a platform that reflects who we are — past, present, and future.

I’ve always believed that QSaltLake belongs to this community. Now, more than ever, that’s true.

Thank you for reading, for supporting, and for being part of this journey.

With gratitude,
Michael Aaron
